Success!

Ceiling Fans Purchased: 2
Injuries: 1, so far. (Hurt my thumb on a search for the screw driver.)
Circuit Breakers Tripped: 1, but it got tripped three times.
Ceiling Fans Installed: 2
Missing Charm Bracelets Found: 1

So, we finally ... after piecing together one complete ceiling fan from the parts of two boxes and bringing the rest back to get a repacement ... have ceiling fans installed in my office and in the guest room. Once we got the one in my office done .. which went pretty easily really .. we went to dinner with his folks, then came back to put the other one up. and that went fine, once we rigged a washer because the screw head was too small, and tripped the breaker three times. And the washer search turned out to be a good thing, because I found the charm bracelet I've been missing since we went to NYC. In 2006. It's been missing a year and a half. I was -convinced- I'd left it somewhere. But it appeared in a cigar box that's been sitting on my desk forever.

So, today was, all in all, a success. Tomorrow I hope to get the curtain rods upstairs put up, and the curtains hung. Once that's done, I think all will be well. In about a month I should get my new desk. They're going to come and put it together and everything which is a wonderful thing for me ... so long as I'm not working when they try to come by. We all know how my luck is with that sort of thing.

And now, I think it's time to get some sleep. Somehow I ended up with extra hours tomorrow, for some project I barely understand, but I guess I'll figure it out. Not like the store doesn't always help me, anyway. But I don't wanna be there all day.

My current DM for work is an idjit. That's all I've got to say. I will not .. I repeat -will not- begin working a project that so clearly does not have a place in my store. And I'm sure as hell not going to start learning a project because "Now's as good a time to start as any .."

No, dumbass. It's not. It's not a good time to start because Christmas is what .. six weeks away? In what univers is six weeks from Christmas a good time to try and learn a program that has nothing to do with my store?

A day off is a glorious thing.

A day off is a glorious thing. Not that I actually did nothing. But it's nice to not have to work. Especially with the way the fill-in DM has been piling extra stuff on me too.

NaNoWriMo isn't going like it should. But I got bored fast. And .. well, that's how it goes. I'd rather be playing WoW than writing right now. And while that's not really a good thing .. it's how it is.

Made a phenomenally yummy soup tonight. Tuscan chicken bean soup ... it was a mix from Harry and David. but I'm sure I can find a recipe. I'm going to have to, cos it was -really- good.

Work Today

I got to give the GM of my store a laugh. I told him that the woman on my team that he - back when he was PPM ( I totally know you don't know what that means - it's Product Process Manager, kinda like an assistant manager. ) - had to throw out of the store has applied for my old DM's job. It makes me feel good though that he talks to me and realizes I'm not like her.

I also got to watch them catch a slicer - a shoplifter that comes in and slices open cases to take the product out. Like - I saw the cop come up, talk to the guy, and slap the cuffs on him. Exciting! Especially since he got like 20 cds the other day, and had 6 games on him when they caught him.

Things I Hate.

Ow.

I hate headaches. I have the worst headache. I've had it for like .. 36 hours now. It keeps going away and coming back ... it started yesterday as a dull aching kinda headache, all over my head, and by the time I went to bed it was beginning to centralize. I woke up with what felt like a spike piercing my left eye .. and it's been that way ever since. Meh.

I hate headaches.

In other news, I also hate my music appreciation class, and the guy who's filling in for the DM that quit in October. He doesn't seem to understand exactly how our jobs actually work. You would imagine he might have a clue. But isn't that always the way .. the people in management don't really have a freaking clue?
