Jason and I went to the beach this weekend. It was a wonderful time, and we had a lot of fun, even though there was some .. unexpected "excitement" in the form of a fire two floors up from the condo we were staying in, and a shark about five feet from my feet.
We stayed at Louise's condo at Sand Dunes Resort on 74th ave in Myrtle Beach. Louise works with him at Tindol; she and her husband went to Florida for a week, so she let us use their condo for the weekend, free of charge.
We left early Saturday - early for us anyway - and drove the whole way to the beach. We got there about 1 in the afternoon and got all our stuff up to the condo, got settled, then headed out to Barefoot Landing. Our first destination was a winery we'd heard about that makes fruit wines, like blackberry and strawberry. We tasted a bunch, bought a few bottles for gifts and for ourselves, bought a blackberry wine slushy, and headed out to check out the shops. We found a few more gifts and me some pretty shell earrings, then picked up our wine and moved to the other side of the landing.

One .. thousand .. dollars.
So. Atlanta was fun. We met Larissa at the hotel, hung out a little bit, and then caught a shuttle (gotta love staying at 4-star hotels!) to the mall, to have lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. Then we spent 4 hours at the mall .. mostly in Nordstrom's.
Yes. Nordstroms.
And of course, the first thing I saw was a coat. It being Fall and all, they were obviously going to be on display. But this one was cashmere. Made in Italy. And the price tag was $1075. Now .. I ask you. Why on earth did it have to be $1075? Was $1000 not quite enough? I just don't get it.
I didn't have the heart to try it on. I knew I'd just cry, because I'd want it, and there's just no way I could justify owning a thousand-dollar coat.
I did, though, end up getting a couple of sweaters. One was on -serious- sale .. though it's a $200+ sweater I got it for like $80, and another one was only like $60 or something. They're gorgeous too. And at that cost, they'll last, I expect, much better than something bought for $10 at Target.
We left Atlanta a little before noon today, and on the way home stopped first at an outlet mall, where Jason bought some clothes, and then we stopped at a Harry and David store. We didn't intend to buy anything. We, of course, did. Quite a bit. But well worth it, I think.
Then we stopped at Whole Foods, because we don't have one near us. And left with -way- more stuff than we probably should have gotten. Chocolate by the ton. Stuff I've never even heard of. Plus desserts, and coffee .. though not much of that. Mostly it was the chocolate. A bunch of Vosges bars .. though a good bit of that was Jason's and not mine. I did get a plant for my flowerbed though, a new kind of mum I'd never seen before. It's really funky and pretty.
I just made my first batch of 'Tania Soup' for the year. It came out simply delicious. And is gone. No leftovers. Not that that's terribly surprising. There's not usually any leftover unless I make a huge batch. But .. yum. I missed this soup. Gonna go curl up and sleep now .. full tummy = sleeeepy.
