We just got back in from our outings today .. early, really, compared to most days so far. Today was just a trip into Santa Fe for the farmer's market, and then a drive up to Bandelier State Park to see the cliff dwellings there. We left around 9-ish, and it's about 6-ish now, so not a terribly long day. But oh man am I tired.
The farmer's market was fun. I found some yarn made locally, which was a big thing I wanted to get. We got some snacks there too, for a picnic, which was also good. Then we drove about an hour and a half or so up to the park. The drive alone was breathtaking .. I got a bunch of pictures just from the car, so we'll see how those come out.
Then we hit the trail for the cliff dwellings, which were incredible. Of course, it was a bit of a hike .. a mile or so at probably well over a mile above sea level. So ... altitude was a facture certainly. But it wasn't too bad. And it was ver much worth the trip. Just to stand in the places those people lived in was magical.
Tomorrow's our 'take it easy' day .. though we did a bit of that yesterday too. At least in the afternoon. We went back into Santa Fe to shop and go to dinner at .. umm .. Coyote Cafe, I think. It was really really nice food. I got elk tenderloin with the most delicious drink I've ever had called a Chocolate Youth. We were all so full we didn't have room for dessert. In fact, we bought home leftovers so we can enjoy them tonight. I think we might also hit the cantina for a little snack, but I dunno.
Tomorrow all we're gonna do is the Galisteo Art Tour, which is where all .. well, many of the local artisans open up their galleries and studios. We -might- go to an alpaca farm if it's not far, but I dunno. Then it's dinner here at the inn at 6pm, or that's when our reservations are for. Then we pack and get ready for our flight Monday. Which is around 1pm, just so you know. We fly back to Atlanta, landing there around 7-ish .. which is just wierd for me becuse of the time changes, then we get into Charlotee around 9 or 9:30. By the time we get our luggage and get home it'll probably be closer to 11 our time
